Maclean's Credibility Gap

Maclean's Credibility Gap is very simple. It involves biased news reporting. Let's take a look at the Macleans April 3 2006 Article entitled "What CUPW doesn’t know about Gandhi." That article was very biased. It trashed the Postal Union for requesting more transparency after the sponsorship scandal and after the new CEO Moya Greene closed the Quebec Post office without consultation.

Now let's look at the timetable of events.

On Jan. 11 2005 Anthony Wilson-Smith, the editor of Maclean's since 2001, announced that he will leave the magazine at the end of February.

Anthony joined Canada Post in 2005 as Special Advisor to the President and CEO. He is currently the Vice President of communications.

April 12 2005 Canada Post honours a Canadian publishing icon with a New stamp that celebrates 100 years of Maclean's magazine

April 3 2006 Macleans prints that trashy article about the Union's request for more transparency at Canada Post.

Abracadabra, Maclean's Credibility Meltdown.
