It's not wages. It's pension, sick leave and route measurement. Canada Post wants to steal the employees pension just like they already stole their severance pay. They even had Catherine not too Swift boldly declare that in her letter to the new CEO.

Stealing pensions is a bad precedent for every Canadian. Claiming the Union's demands will cost $1.4 billion is an offensive lie. It's not about the Union. It's about 94.5% of the employees who voted no to losing their pensions and wrecking havoc on the workfloor. This is the mess Moya Greene created and ran away from.  

"Let's look at the new method of delivery that Canada Post wants carriers to use. They want us to read while walking, with a bundle of mail on our forearms and letters in our hands. Plus there will be flyers in your satchel! This is going to be painful and dangerous, especially in bad weather. This is not modernization. This is taking us back to a time when nobody talked about ergonomic standards."  

It's not just two bundles. They won't let you stack your flyers so it is multiple bundles. In addition there is the turn around mail that didn't get sorted by the machines you have to sort by hand in the case. That's another bundle. Human beings only have two hands but Moya Greene can't understand that.

"Well they use this system in the States." No they don't. Every carrier has a vehicle in the States. We have partners to reduce the cost of vehicles. Our system makes money the US system doesn't. Moya Greene has no idea how to do the job and just wasted billions of dollars on a bad system that destroyed the efficient and profitable company that took generations to build. If the carriers try to come up with logical ways to make the bad system work, they are disciplined and suspended. The old cases still exist for the turn around mail. Sorting and pulling the sequenced mail into that case would take minutes but save hours outside.

The Real Numbers:

$281 Million: In 2009 CPC recorded its highest profit ever of $281 million. When it reports for 2010 we will see that the Corporation has been profitable for 16 consecutive years.

The $1.4 Billion Fiction: On May 24, 2011 CPC claimed CUPW's demands would cost $1.4 Billion. This number is still widely used by the media. Management continues to refuse to justify the assumptions used to generate this number which can only be described as a wild exaggeration or more accurately, an offensive lie.

17%: Since May 30, 2011 CPC has been stating that letterman volumes have declined by 17% since 2006. The fact is that letterman volumes decreased by 7.2% between 2006 and 2009, the last year reported. Volumes did not decline by anywhere near 10% in 2010 so this number is completely incorrect. There was 0% decrease from 1993 - 2003.
